Wildcats suffer pair of season opening losses

The Fleming Wildcats started off their basketball season at 0-2 following a pair of season opening losses. The Wildcats fell to the Bulldogs in Haxtun on Friday night and took a second loss on Saturday to Belleview Christian.
Haxtun went up by eight in the opening quarter on their home court Friday night, 18-10. Fleming matched the home team's 17-point second quarter to remain down by eight at the half.
The Wildcats outscored the Bulldogs in the third by a single point to trail by seven heading into the final quarter. Haxtun sealed their victory adding 14 points in the fourth while holding Fleming to 10.
Individual stats for the Wildcats were not reported on MaxPreps as of press time.
On Saturday night, Fleming hosted the Belleview Christian Bruins and took a 20-point, 58-38, loss. Scoring between the two teams looked fairly even in the opening half with Fleming down by just six. A 10-point scoring difference in the third gave the Bruins a solid upperhand.
Senior Braylen Feather earned a double-double on the night with 13 points and 15 rebounds. He also contributed the team-high five assists.
Senior Kolten Houser also added 13 points to the scoreboard. Senior Nolan Japp brought down 11 rebounds.
The Wildcats are set to travel to Caliche on Friday, Dec. 9 to take on the Buffaloes. Contest are scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. that day.
