Fitzgerald's Café will be opened to the public this coming Saturday, it has been announced by L.E. Fitzgerald, the proprietor. The business is located in the Fitzgerald building.

The Town of Haxtun recently purchased a used diesel-type Adams motor grader at a sale at Russell, Kan., and it was brought home the last of the week by R.L. Scott and H.R. Meakins. Incidentally, the grader is one of those cab-less types, so the Mayor and Marshal had plenty of fresh air along the way.
Fairfield News - Home demonstration club met with Mrs. John Rhodes Thursday with Mrs. Rickard Roos as assisting hostess. Medames Ivan Knode and Arlo Ferguson gave the lesson on home furnishings.
Fleming News - Mr. and Mrs. William Fate were Sunday dinner guests of Mrs. Effie Clark in Haxtun.

Tony Wernsman and Dennis Ruch were first place winners in the junior high division at the Sterling art show. Winners in the senior high division: Carolee Kurtzer, Lisa Campbell, Sandi Wilson, Kari Starkebaum, Dallas Reyher, Brian Henry, and Karie Anderson. Mrs. Val Gillotte is their art teacher at the Haxtun Schools.
Five candidates have filed nominating positions to fill three positions on the Haxtun Town Board of Trustees: Vera J. Kloepfer, George E. Michael, Raymond Schropfer, Clifford Smith and C. A.(Pete) Spelts. Michael and Spelts are incumbents seeking another term. Filomenia Anich, the third and comment, did not file a petition.

Fleming's Snowball royalty this year: King Eric Barkley and Queen Kendra Koehler; junior attendants Frank Lousberg and Tara Brekel; and freshman attendants Janelle Monroe and Josh Wyrsch.
Sam and Karen Kobayashi celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on Jan. 26. They are the parents of three sons, Ky, Todd, and Dayton, who all attended the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.
As smoke cleared from the ruins of a home destroyed by fire last week, questions filled the air concerning an alleged policy to check out fire reports coming into the Holyoke dispatcher's office before sounding the alarm. The fire, reported in the early morning hours last Thursday, consumed the home of Kenneth and Kristie Ham before firefighters arrived on the scene.

With the recent passing of Amendment 64 in Colorado, the Haxtun Town Council adopted an ordinance concerning marijuana facilities within city limits during a meeting last Monday. Marijuana facilities are, per the new ordinance, banned in Haxtun.
A new business joined Haxtun's main street last week. Retread Threads opened at 122 S. Colorado Avenue on Thursday, March 7.
