SIX STUDENTS from Haxtun High School were inducted into the National Honor Society Tuesday, March 29. Pictured (l-r), Sandy Ham, Cindy Fuesz, Rusty Eckman, Tammy Davis, Erin Brotherton and Becky Pfaltzgraff, received inductions in the evening ceremony at the grade school cafeteria.

March 30, 1938

Haxtun voters will have the choice between two candidates for mayor in the Tuesday election: O.K. Clark and Ralph L. Scott. Three of the six candidates for trustee were nominated and endorsed by both the Citizens' and Progressive parties. They are A.J. Ahnstedt, W.L. Bamford, E.M. Harrell, Leonard Sharp, M.E. Thornhill and B.B. Williams.

Paoli News - Mr. and Mrs. Gus Holstein and Mr. and Mrs. Toney Hagan spent Saturday in Wray, where they take health treatments.

Philorado News - Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Starkebaum and daughter Ethelyn entertained a number of friends and relatives Saturday evening in honor of Norman Starkebaum, who was spending his vacation at the home. The invited guests were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gall, Mr. and Mrs., Ernest Starkebaum, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hohn, Phyllis and Delbert Anderson, Ruth Price, Mary Arlene Long, Harvey Baker, Wilbur Hohn, Curtis, Clark and Lorin Starkebaum and the guest of honor, Norman Starkebaum.

Mrs. Bertha Fix and Helen entertained in honor of Leonard Fix's birthday Sunday evening. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Orval Sherwood of Holyoke, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Sherwood and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fix and family.

The pep club girls entertained the members of the Fairfield basketball team at a banquet at the Lawrence Bjorklun home Friday evening. The guest list included Dean Anderson, Dennis Eckman, Billy Goddard, James, Keir, Doyle, Hadeen, Glenn Sandquist, Ronnie Anderson, Mervin, Eckman, Leon Ferguson, Melvin Lundberg, Floyd Ricker, Billy Phillips, Kenneth Jeffers, Wayne Falk, Rev. and Mrs. Jerome Ahlsted, Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Forell, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Phillips, Mrs. Glen Hofmeister, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Bjorklun, LaVonne Anderson, Doris and Edith Sandquist, Karen Kaiser, Naomi Knode, Lavonne Goddard, Lois Sandquist, Charlotte Ricker, and Betty Rhodes.

Elections: In Paoli, only Virgil Harms is seeking the mayor post. Running for six trustees positions are Jerry A. Covey, Fred Kain, Melinda S. Miller, Lee W. McConnell, Eddie L. Neiman, Marion Russell, Marlin L. Smith and Larry D. Weiss.

In Fleming, Ralph A. Deines, and Lester B. Harms are competing for the mayor's job. Seeking trustee positions: Larry Loos, John E. Miles, Katherine M. Pyle, Bill D. Sweet and Frank Yockey.

Haxtun High School Future Business Leaders of America who brought home top prizes at the state conference last week in Colorado Springs: Rhonda Potter, Brett Garretson, Chad Fix, Bill Renzelman, Tammy Ridenour, Art Lick, Julie Scott and Bev Wilson.

Bullpup wrestlers who scored wins at Thursday's dual meet with Merino are Kevin McDaniel, Ed Casella, Kenny Jackson, Randy Fix, Greg Raffaelli, Correy Lick and Jay Haynes.

Fleming News - Darlene Wiebers has been chosen as the Fleming Girl stater. JoDee Grauberger is the alternate. Girls' State will be held in Boulder in June.

March 31, 1993

A crowd of 110 people met at the community room at the fairgrounds last Wednesday as members of the Board of Adjustments listened to testimony, both pro and con for a conditional use permit for D&D Farms.

Members of the younger peewee wrestling squad: Jeffrey Livingston, Andy Wernsman, Morgan White, Russell Hofmeister, Travis Hofmeister, Ryan Wernsman, Clay Michael, Beau Starkebaum, Regan Biesemeier, John Cloud, Matt Everitt, Adam Walter, Justin Starner, Nicholas Freemyer, Alex Snider, Ryan Starner and Dane Northrup. Howard Fix is their a coach.

Private First Class Cody Fix graduated from the School of Infantry at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif. on Tuesday, March 26 as an Infantry Rifleman 0311 with First Platoon Charlie Company.

Steven Seybels, a 2012 graduate of Haxtun High School, was recently named to the Dean's List of Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington, Wyo.
