With members of their family and a few friends in attendance, Miss Margaret Bledsoe of Fleming and Wilbur Atkins of Haxtun were married Sunday morning at the Community Church in Fleming. The ceremony was performed at seven o'clock by the pastor, Rev. L.A. Hoerauf.
Postmaster Tom C. Crist of Haxtun was nominated for reappointment to the office at Haxtun this week. His name was among the nominations sent to the Senate by President Roosevelt.

Kenneth Hadeen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Hadeen, received a bachelor of science degree in agriculture at Colorado A&M on June 5.
Mrs. Roy Potter, 43, passed away Sunday morning, June 7, 1953 at the St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver. Her husband and five children survive her: Mrs. Helen Haskins, Robert Potter, Richard Potter, Patsy Potter and Royce Potter.
Carl Lundgren, 53, died Thursday morning, June 4, 1953. He is survived by his wife, Marie Wengert Lundgren, and three sons: Harold, Melvin and Lyle. A daughter preceded him in death. Adopted daughter Natalie Ann also survives him.

The Double R Restaurant in Haxtun is no more as its owners, John and Hilda Rahe, have closed the doors and plan to move to a retirement acreage at the edge of Chappell, Neb. Although the Rahes' children plan to open a coffee shop and name it the Double R, John and Hilda will not be actively involved in the project.
Shelly Schepler graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley on Friday. Gathering in her honor at a reception were Mr. and Mrs. Dorvin Schepler, Tamy and Kirk, Mr. and Mrs. Ted H. Yount, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Dreier, Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Sonnenberg, Mike and Dana, Mr. and Mrs. Greg, Brecht and Shawn, Mr. and Mrs. Harold, Brecht, Lynell, Cheryll and Laurie, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Yount, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Mekelberg, Kent and Boyd, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Gunethener, Mr. and Mrs. Dorne Yount and family, and numerous college friends.

On the superintendent's honor roll for Haxtun High School: seniors Thomas Herndon, Dana Salvador, Amanda Seger, Beth Wernsman; sophomores Brian Gueck, Ryan Ley, Shannon Salvador, Casey Sumter; freshmen Sarah Atkins, and Kristi Colerick.
Kenneth Schuster of Idaho Falls, Idaho, received his masters degree in science on May 15, at the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho. He is a Haxtun High School graduate and the grandson of the late Frank and Emma Schoen.

Cancer Survivors Bill Harris and his daughter Kelli Lightsey led this year's Phillips County Relay for Life survivors' lap Friday evening in Haxtun. Before taking the lap around the path with her father, Kelli shared her cancer story with Relay team members and the community.
