July 6, 1938

Laurence Nelson Skold of Haxtun was one of 25 Colorado men to receive an appointment to the U.S. Army Reserve Corps with the rank of second lieutenant. He is the brother of C.A. Skold.

The eight-year-old son of John Woodmancy of Holyoke, lost the sight in one of his eyes Monday night when he was struck by a firecracker. Vic Thomas also suffered an injury to his eye when he was hit by a firecracker thrown by another person.

Found guilty of driving an automobile while under the influence of liquor, Albert Heckman was fined $10 and costs here Wednesday afternoon....
