GRAND MARSHALS for the 102nd annual Haxtun Corn Festival, Steve and Nora Hofmeister.

Steve and Nora Hofmeister have been selected to serve as the 2023 Haxtun Corn Festival Grand Marshals. The Haxtun Chamber of Commerce recently announced the Grand Marshal selection along with this year's theme. Grand marshal and theme selections are chosen by the Corn Festival committee. The theme for the 2023 Corn Festival is "Where Neighbors become Family."

The Hofmeisters have been a pillar of the Haxtun community for over three decades. Steve and Nora started Hofmeister Insurance Agency in 1988, first working out of their home and later moving the business to town once their children were all in school. The family owned and operated insurance office is in the heart of downtown Haxtun and has served Haxtun and surrounding farmers from its current location since 2004.

In 1994 the couple purchased Hofmeister Building Center and operated that business until it sold to current owners Jim and Bobbi Helfer in 2010.

Steve has served on the Haxtun Hospital Board of Directors, the Haxtun Lions Club and the State of Colorado Department of Transportation Board over the years. Nora has played an important role on the Haxtun Hospital Foundation and Haxtun Methodist Missions Committee. She also serves on the Retread Threads Board as well as a volunteer at the local Store. Nora is a PEO member and co-organizes the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner, something she's helped with for more than 15 years.

The couple have also played key role in the Haxtun Chamber of Commerce organization and all its events over the past 30+ years, including Corn Festival.

The 102nd annual Corn Festival is slated for Saturday, Sept. 30 in downtown Haxtun and will feature many events like the J. Jeffryes run, parade, Lil Mr. and Miss contest, FFA auction, Johnny Memorial Tractor Pull, quilt show, flower show, crop show, street games and alumni celebrations. This year's event will also feature Valve Cover Car Races, which were a hit in July at Old-Fashioned Saturday Night.

Vendor sign up for Corn Festival is open now and can be found at the Chamber's website, https://welcometohaxtun.com.
