Mollie Sanger

Mollie Margaret Sanger passed away Aug. 21, 2023 in Sterling at the age of 93.

Mollie was born in Sterling to Mollie (Seewald) and Albert Lauer on Jan. 20, 1930. She attended Crook School. On Jan. 8, 1949 she married John J. Sanger. They were married for 64 years until John's passing in 2014. Mollie was a homemaker and mother to nine children. She enjoyed bowling, golf and a night of dancing. She also loved competitive games of Scrabble, Yahtzee and Pitch where her happiest moments were bidding on a two hand and somehow making five. She was famous for her fried chicken, cinnamon rolls and oatmeal chocolate chip cookies which her children and grandchildren have often made, but never duplicated.

Mollie is survived by her sons Tim and wife Correne, Green Valley, Ariz., Dan and wife Ruth, Tucson, Ariz., Terry and wife Kathy, Sterling, Rick and wife Stephanie, Sterling, and Jamie and wife Karen, London, England; daughters Patti and husband Gary Gillham, Peetz, Cindy Sanger, Tucson, Marcie and husband Ron Dolan, Sedgwick, and Peggy Snook, Westminster; brothers Larry Lauer and Dick Lauer; sisters Peggy Hershfeldt, Dot Stang, Dolly Huss and Pat Abts; sisters-in-law Pat Sanger and June Lauer; brother-in-law Joe Zovak; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.


Mollie is preceded in death by her parents Albert and Mollie Lauer; brothers Albert, John, Jim and Pete; and sisters Katherine Kalinowski and Mary Mollendor.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Aug. 24 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Father Enrique Salazar celebrating. Interment followed at Riverside Cemetery.
