Lady Bulldogs sweep Prairie at home

SENIOR Cassidy Goddard goes up for a block at the net in a match up with Fleming a couple weeks ago at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling. Haxtun hosted Prairie at home on Tuesday this week and are set to compete in a tournament in Timnath on Saturday.

The Haxtun Lady Bulldogs improved to 7-2 on the season with a sweep at home over the Prairie Mustangs on Tuesday night.

According to MaxPreps, the team stands at 2-0 in league play and in the number one seed in 2A/1A Lower Platte League standings.

Tuesday's match up put Haxtun's junior varsity and varsity teams on the court against the Lady Mustangs; both teams notched wins.

The girls' varsity team took set one 25-17, set two 25-19 and set three, 25-15 for the match victory. Individual stats were not yet posted the following morning in time for the Herald press deadline.

This weekend the Lady Bulldogs are set to travel to Timnath for tournament play on Saturday. Maxpreps says the team will face Weldon Valley and Timanth at 10 and 11 a.m. followed by a third match up with a third undetermined team at noon. Weldon Valley holds a 1-3 record overall while Timnath boasts a perfect 4-0 record so far this season.

Following tournament play over the weekend, Haxtun is set to host Wiggins at home on Tuesday, Sept. 12. The Lady Tigers are 7-0.
