Nine candidates for Haxtun Board of Education invited to attend forum

The Haxtun Board of Education will have four seats up for election this fall. As the Nov. 7 voting date nears, all registered voters are invited to attend a candidate forum slated for Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Haxtun Community Center.

Seats held by Amy Kilgour, Richard Starkebaum, Steven Hadeen and Abby Henry all expire in November. Haxtun has a total of nine community members running for one of those four open seats. Candidates include Steve Statz, Steven Hadeen, Amy Kilgour, Abby Henry, Ross Edwards, Valerie Wilson, Lee Salyards, Ben Stephenson and Trever Fix.

The Haxtun Chamber of Commerce along with The Haxtun-Fleming Herald plan to host a candidate forum and meet and greet at the Haxtun Community Center on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. There will be a prepared list of questions for each candidate to answer and each will be given the opportunity to speak about why they want to serve on the local school board.

Ballots will be mailed to registered voters in mid-October and must be returned on Election Day, Nov. 7.
