Death summoned Peter Nordholm, 79, homesteader south of Haxtun.
Realizing the increasing demand for more and better public school music teachers, Floyd Prouty, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.B. Prouty of Haxtun, has selected music as his major at Colorado State College of Education in Greeley. He is a freshman this year. There are 100 music majors on the campus this quarter.
Bryant News - There will be a community Thanksgiving dinner at the hall Thanksgiving Day. Everyone is invited to bring dinner and attend.

Hospital News - Diane Anderson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Anderson of Holyoke, underwent a tonsillectomy on Wednesday morning.
Haxtun Bulldogs prepare for full basketball season: five letterman from last year's team have checked out suits, according to Coach Borah. They are Dean Davis, Ted Potter, Melvin Skold, Eddie Switzer and Jim Stansbury, with 44 others ready to suit up.
Fleming News - Pfc. and Mrs. Jack Meakins of El Paso, Texas, were visitors in the H.K. Meakins home this weekend.
Mrs. Floyd Reyher entertained a group of children and their mothers at a party Saturday afternoon honoring the third birthday anniversary of her daughter, Beverly. Guests: Mrs. Clinton Jeffers and Mark; Mrs. Harold Ahnstedt and Jackie and Rockie; Mrs. R.K. Scott, June and Craig; Mrs. Norris Carsten and Greg; Mrs. Lee Schneider and Jackie; Mrs. Vernon Myers and Cathy and Larry.
Paoli News - Mrs. Merl Bailey got her finger caught in the electric mixer last week. Her husband had to cut the beaters in order to get her finger released.

Approximately 125 guests attended the open house Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church parish hall honoring Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Koch on their golden wedding anniversary.
Haxtun Senior Kathie Anderson has been named to the Lower Platte Athletic Association all-conference volleyball team for her play this season. Fleming's Claudia Haynes, a junior, and Gina Kirkwood, freshman, were also named to the all-conference team. Junior Rhonda Potter, and sophomore, Shelly Stansbury, Haxtun, received honorable mention.
Pictured: Harry Harms, long-time Fleming School custodian, was honored recently by the Fleming School faculty upon his retirement from 20 years of service.

Jenna M. Heermann won a contest on PBS with "Where in the World is San Diego?" with her name to appear on screen during the PBS game show.
Cella Garret, assistant cashier, Haxtun Community Bank, and Jean Carper, Haxtun Locker Plant employee, tied for employee of the quarter honor by the Haxtun Chamber of Commerce. Employee of the first quarter of 1993 was Jan Workman, Haxtun Co-op Association. Carol Scheel, The Haxtun Herald, received the honor in the second quarter.
Fleming Elementary Student Council officers: president Cole LaMont; vice president Sara Heaton; secretary Brandon Wernsman; treasurer Katie Comstock; and reporter Nick Helgoth. Citizens of the quarter: April Huey, Sara Beck, Brandon Slaton, Michael Wolever, Vernon Riemenschneider, Melissa Koehler, Damon Schaefer and Audra Dreier.
Relatives and friends gathered at the home of Lloyd Atkins Nov. 10 to surprise him for his 90th birthday. The party was given by the women who care for him: Jean Schumacher and Katherine Hinde, assisted by Phyllis Atkins and Ardie Harding.
