Chamber preps for annual Christmas kickoff

The countdown to Christmas is on and Santa will make his appearance in Haxtun very soon. Haxtun’s Hometown Christmas is slated for Tuesday, Nov. 28. The annual event promises opportunities for local shopping, visits with Santa and a hearty chili supper at the fire hall. The event is sponsored by the Haxtun Chamber of Commerce.

The Haxtun Fire Hall will set the scene for Santa’s visit the Tuesday following Thanksgiving. Along with the annual chili supper beginning at 5 p.m., Santa is set to arrive at the local fire station at 5:30 p.m. to visit with children.

While Santa’s appearance is always a children’s favorite, there is plenty for the adults throughout the evening as well. Many local businesses will be open from 5-8 p.m. for shopping as well as in-store prizes, promotions and drawings.

Points West Community Bank will serve as center stage for the Christmas Cantata. A talented group of local vocalists are set to perform at 7 p.m.

Additionally, children will be able to ride the FFA grain train, families and groups alike can enjoy hay wagon rides through town and local vendors will be set up at various locations in down town Haxtun.
