MEGAN WALKER, front and center, signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at McCook Community College with her parents, Jackie and James, along with Haxtun Head Volleyball Coach Don Schelling, back left, and Haxtun Assistant Coach McCall Etl.

Haxtun senior Megan Walker signed a letter of intent to continue her volleyball career with McCook Community College in front of family, teammates and friends last week.

Walker plans to study business administration at MCC in McCook, Neb. next fall.

As a senior leader for the Lady Bulldogs, Walker helped lead her team to the 1A State Volleyball Tournament this season. The Lady Bulldogs finished their season with a top six finish in 1A and with a 19-9 overall record. Walker received All-Conference honors for her effort on the court her senior season.

In McCook, Walker will fill the role as a freshman setter. In her time as a Lady Bulldog, Walker registered a total of 553 assists.

"Megan came to a camp of ours a few years ago and you could tell she just loved the game," said McCook Volleyball Head Coach Hayley Kobza. "To me, passion and effort are characteristics that are hard teach, if an athlete already has them you are closer to success that away from it."

Walker also took on a role as hitter in her four years with the Lady Bulldogs. In her time on the court, she played in 343 sets in which she put down 452 kills. Behind the service line, she totaled 165 aces in her four years at Haxtun. Walker boasts a 88.2 serving percentage.

Walker also registered 111 total blocks and 759 digs throughout her high school career.

"Megan has effort, heart and hustle. I think she will push herself, which will then push her teammates," Kobza said.
