Lady Bulldogs pick up 47-33 home court win over Otis on Saturday

The Lady Bulldogs secured their second win of the season with a home court victory over Otis on Saturday afternoon. The match up with Otis was one of two at home last week. The night before, Haxtun took on Sedgwick County.

Saturday's win over Otis gives the Lady Bulldogs their second in as many weeks. Haxtun put 17 points on the board in the first quarter and 14 in the second to hold a 31-18 advantage at half time. Ten points in the third and six more in the fourth gave the home team Lady Bulldogs a 47-33 win over Otis.

Junior Emily Anderson connected with two three-pointers, three shots inside the paint and one free throw for a team high of 13. Junior Jayleigh Bullard made five shots under the basket to give her 10 in the win. Junior Kelsie Hadeen racked up seven points followed by senior Cassidy Goddard and freshman Emma Lemesany, each with five. Sophomore Lilly Lemesany registered three points while senior Heily Avery and junior Hadley Feik each contributed two.

Bullard pulled down 15 rebounds, four on offense and 11 on defense, to give her a double-double. Feik brought down six rebounds, Anderson and Hadeen each grabbed five and Avery registered three.

Anderson lead the team in assists with four and in steals with a total of six.

The night before, Haxtun met up with the Lady Cougars from Sedgwick County. The Lady Bulldogs matched one of the top three ranked teams in all of 2A Colorado girls' basketball point for point throughout the first half of the contest but the Lady Cougars upped the intensity in the second half, running away with a 50-20 win.

Goddard put 10 points on the board Friday night, connecting with five field goals. Anderson registered six points followed by Bullard with three and Hadeen with one.

Anderson brought down three offensive rebounds and three defensive for the team high of six. Bullard and Goddard each pulled down four rebounds while Avery, Hadeen, Lilly Lemesany and Feik each tallied three boards.

Bullard led the team in assists with two followed by Hadeen, Aery and Anderson, each with one. Anderson registered six steals in the contest. Bullard and Goddard each had two.

For the third time this season, Haxtun will met up with the Lady Dragons from Holyoke, this time at the home of the Lady Bulldogs. The first two meetings went in favor of the Lady Dragons.

On Jan. 30 Haxtun is set to travel and on Feb. 2 the Lady Bulldogs will visit the home of the Caliche Buffs.
