Lady Wildcats advance to 2-0 in league

Fleming's Lady Wildcats tacked on a league win over the past week to put them at 2-0 on the year. The Lady Wildcats were scheduled for two games last week, but a road contest scheduled for Thursday at Akron was cancelled due to icy roads and blowing snow.

For their lone contest last week, the Lady Wildcats returned to their home court for the first time this year, playing host to the Peetz Lady Bulldogs. Peetz entered with just a single win on their record this season and exited with their first league loss after Fleming took the 70-32 victory.

Four Lady Wildcats hit double digits on the scoreboard for the night. Sophomore Brooke Schaefer led with 13 points. She also put up leading numbers in assists and steals with three in each category.

Senior MadiKay Serrato followed Schaefer in points with 12. She also passed three assists while leading the team in steals with four. Serrato brought down seven rebounds.

Sophomore Ashely Bornhoft tallied 11 points in the contest. She led the team under the net in rebounds with nine after bringing down seven offensive and two defensive boards.

Sophomore Ciana Lousberg added 10 points for the night while bringing down six rebounds.

Sophomore Quincy Stull matched Bornhoft in rebounds with the team-high of nine.

The Lady Wildcats are set to travel to Merino on Friday to face off with the undefeated Lady Rams. C-team boys start things of at 4 p.m. that day.

On Saturday, Fleming faces off with the North Central's top-ranked Briggsdale Lady Falcons. Boys' JV opens at Briggsdale that day at 2 p.m.

On Tuesday, Jan. 30, the team is scheduled to travel to Akron for a make up contest. MaxPreps lists a 3 p.m. start time against the Rams.
