Lady Wildcats go 2-0 in home court action

The Fleming Lady Wildcats returned to their home court last weekend after being on the road for the three consecutive games prior. Fleming hosted the Weldon Valley Lady Warriors for a league contest on Friday and hosted Genoa-Hugo/Karval on Saturday afternoon.

Fleming's offense hit 76 points on Friday night against Weldon Valley who managed just 21 total points. Several Lady Wildcat players saw double digits in that contest with sophomore Brooke Schaefer leading the charge at 16 points.

Senior MadiKay Serrato added 13 points. Sophomore Ciana Lousberg and freshman Hadley Stull also hit double digits with 11 and 10, respectively.

The duo of sophomores Quincy Stull and Ashley Bornhoft led the Lady Wildcats under the net. Stull brought down 10 boards; Bornhoft added eight.

In addition to her scoring contribution, Serrato led the team in steals with seven and assists with six.

On Saturday night, Serrato led her team in categories across the board as the Lady Wildcats cruised to a 47-31 victory over the Genoa-Hugo/Karval Lady Pirates. Fleming held the upper hand on the scoreboard through the first half, maintaining an 11-point lead at halftime. The Lady Pirates took the lead in the third adding 17 points while giving up just four to the home team.

The Lady Wildcat offense kept their composure, answering back with a 20-point fourth quarter while the defense allowed just two points to the Lady Pirates.

Serrato tallied 20 points on Saturday night. She went eight for nine from the free-throw line, earned 10 points on two-point buckets and made two of three from outside the arc.

Serrato also led her team in rebounds with five and in assists and steals with three in each column.

Lousberg followed Serrato on the scoreboard with 11 points. Bornhoft matched Serrato in rebounds with five.

With no league contests remaining on their regular season schedule, MaxPreps lists the Lady Wildcats as the number two team in the North Central league at 3-1.

This week the Lady Wildcats are set to host McClave on Friday, Feb. 9. JV boys will tip off at 4 p.m. that day.
