Lady Wildcats hold North Central's #2 spot

The Fleming Lady Wildcats sit in the number two spot in the North Central League heading into the final week of the regular season. The 10-6 Lady Wildcats sit behind top ranked Briggsdale according to MaxPreps.

Last week, the Lady Wildcats hosted the McClave Lady Cardinals and traveled to the home of the Flatirons Academy Lady Bison. The local ladies suffered losses in both outings.

On Friday night, McClave jumped to an early nine-point lead in the first and expanded that lead by another six before the end of the half, 29-14. The Lady Wildcats outscored McClave by two in the third, but McClave answered back topping the home team by eight in the final quarter and the score settled at 58-37, McClave.

Senior MadiKay Serrato led her team with 15 points and nine rebounds. Sophomore Brooke Schaefer followed on the scoreboard with eight points. Sophomore Ashley Bornhoft followed in boards with eight.


On Saturday night, the Lady Wildcats trailed the Flatirons Academy Lady Bison by two at the end of the first. By the end of the half, Fleming was down by 10.

Flatirons Academy opened the second half with a high-scoring, 20-point third quarter. Their defense held the Lady Wildcats to just seven. Both teams tallied seven points in the fourth quarter giving the Lady Bison the win, 54-31.

Serrato led her team in scoring and rebounds for the second consecutive night. She scored 11 points and brought down nine boards.

Bornhoft and sophomore Ciana Lousberg followed in both categories. Both ladies added eight points for the night. Lousberg grabbed seven rebounds; Bornhoft added six boards.
