Dr. Ehrin Armstrong to provide services at Haxtun Health

 


Haxtun Health has added a cardiologist, vascular surgeon and a certified wound care physician to the care team in Haxtun. The addition of Doctor Ehrin Armstrong brings all three specialty areas to the Haxtun community.

Chief Executive Office Dewane Pace announced the addition of Dr. Armstrong in a meeting in late February. He told the Board of Directors that Dr. Armstrong has deep roots in Northeastern Colorado through family in the Julesburg area. He will soon be seeing patients in Haxtun while also maintaining a practice in Thornton.

Dr. Armstrong provides consultative cardiology as well as advanced cardiovascular procedures. His clinical practice includes the endovascular treatment of advanced peripheral artery disease, including carotid artery stenting, endovascular aortic repair and complex techniques for amputation prevention in patients with nonhealing leg wounds. Dr. Armstrong also has extensive experience with treating advanced heart disease including coronary stenting and atherectomy.


Dr. Armstrong completed undergraduate studies at Stanford University and received his MD from Harvard Medical School. He completed internal medicine training at Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by cardiology training at the University of California, San Francisco. He then completed interventional cardiology and vascular interventional training at the University of California, Davis. He is board certified in cardiology, interventional cardiology and endovascular medicine.

In addition to his practice in Thornton Armstrong is actively involved in multiple clinic trials for the treatment of patients with peripheral artery disease. He as published over 300 peer-reviewed articles in major cardiovascular journals. He holds a number of leadership positions in national societies including being a board member of Vascular Interventional Advances, a multidisciplinary non-profit dedicated to the care of patients with vascular disease. Dr. Armstrong regularly speaks at National and international cardiovascular meetings.


In other business during the February meeting:

• CeeAra Thompson has transition from the pharmacy to the clinic as a medical assistant. A new technician, Andy Cambless, has been hired to take her place;

• Jaci Delaney has resigned her position as quality director, she plans to stay on part-time as a registered nurse. Micaiah Lanckriet has accepted the Quality Director position and began her new role on Feb. 22;


• The extended care unit census is 18 with a new admission coming soon;

• Nicole Dennis stepped down from her position as Assistant Chief Nursing Officer to work as a floor nurse.
