Bulldogs split with Tigers on Saturday

HAXTUN SENIOR Kaiden Schelling slides into second base under the tag in the Bulldogs' home opener with Holyoke two weeks ago. This week, Haxtun split a double-header with the Wiggins Tigers.

Bulldog baseball advanced to 2-2 on the year following double-header action at home against Wiggins on Saturday. Haxtun took the first game, 7-1, for the league win but fell 7-5 in extra innings in game two.

A slow start on Saturday left both Haxtun and Wiggins scoreless through the third inning of game one. The Bulldogs figured things out at the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning, putting four runs on the board to control the score. Wiggins put their one and only run up in the top of the fifth and later, the Bulldogs answered with three additional runs to give the home team the six-run...
