Graduation exercises this week brought the end of this school year at Haxtun and 35 seniors in the high school received diplomas. Alberta Kassing gave the valedictorian address and Geraldine Dee, salutatorian, also spoke. Hospital news: Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Kennedy are the parents of a son, Timothy Joe, born May 14. Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Klinzman of Yuma are the parents of a son born May 18 and named Patrick Ernest. A baby son Brad Lee, was born May 8, to Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hofmeister.

Keith Sharpe, who is stationed at Buckley Field near Denver, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Sharpe, this week.

Commencement exercises for the Haxtun High School seniors were held May 19 with Norris Harms as valedictorian and Madeline Rodgers as salutatorian. At the honor day program, Lois Gall and Bessie Jean Knode received awards for typing 50 words per minute, Janice Baker for 55 words, per minute, and John Buck for 60 words per minute.

Members of the outgoing Haxtun Hospital District Board spent considerable time on May 5 discussing options for its struggling Nextgen electronic record system, ended without action, then tentatively re-designated a location for a district pharmacy.

Kenny Jolley took an oath of office to join the Haxtun Town Council last Monday night. Jolley fills one of two vacancies left open after elections in April.
