The Fleming Wildcats closed the regular season on a high note last week with a win over Peetz on Fleming's home court. The two teams are set to meet again on Wednesday, Feb. 26 in the opening round of the District 4 Tournament.

Prior to last week's contest, Fleming had met Peetz once this season when they took a 10-point victory on the Bulldogs' home court. Last week's contest at Fleming ended with a closer score.

Fleming went up by five in the first quarter, 14-9, but Peetz returned in the second quarter to claim the lead. The visiting team added 16 points before the close of the half and gave up just nine to the Wildcats to put them up, 25-22.

Both teams advanced their score by 18 points in the third quarter leaving Peetz on top by three as the fourth quarter opened. The Wildcats put up their high-scoring quarter of the game in the final period and reclaimed the lead with 20 points while the defense held Peetz to 15. Fleming pulled out the narrow two-point victory, 60-58.

Senior Brandon Williams led the Wildcat offense with 14 points. He made two three-pointers, three two-point field goals and went two for three from the charity stripe.

Junior Kade Comstock followed with 13 points. He earned his off five two-pointers and three free throws.

The Wildcats are set to enter the District 4 Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 26 with a contest against the seventh seeded Peetz Bulldogs. That game is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.

A win in the first round on Wednesday would allow the Wildcats to advance to the second round against the winner of a contest between Merino and Caliche. The Wildcats met both teams during the regular season; falling to Merino by 12 and taking a two-point win over Caliche.

The Championship game of the boys' bracket is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 29. The consolation championship is set for 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and will feature the losers from Thursday's second round.
