Phillips County 4-Hers celebrate success!

Fair goes on without a hitch despite pandemic

Although some things may have looked a little differently this year, for the most part, the 2020 Phillips County Fair went on without a hitch despite many local county fairs being cancelled due to the current pandemic.

The Phillips County Fair kicked off last Tuesday with the horse show and featured nearly 120 youth entrants with both 4-H and FFA projects. According to Phillips County Livestock Agent Jessie Stewart, there were also over 130 entrants in the open shows at this year's fair.

The Phillips County Commissioners, Fair Board members and Extension staff worked to be able to host in-person junior livestock shows as well as the sale in typical fashion, but also added an online feature for those who were unable to attend in person.

In addition to livestock and general project shows, the fair also featured a ranch rodeo, concert and barrel racing events.

Saturday featured the annual parade in downtown Holyoke followed by the Junior Livestock Show, which drew a large crowd to the Bank of Colorado Pavilion. Action wrapped up Saturday night with a Bulls Gone Wild event.
