From the PC Sheriffs Office

Two suspects arrested in possible connection with recent PC thefts

December 23, 2020

On Dec. 18, a meeting was held at the Phillips County Event Center where 11 law enforcement agencies from Colorado, Nebraska and Kansas were present. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss the current auto theft problem in rural parts of several counties. From this meeting four suspects were identified.

On the evening of Dec. 17, two of the identified suspects were arrested on active warrants from Yuma County including Diego Nevarez, 22, Wray, and Cristal Carrasco-Diaz, 30, Wray. The two were arrested by the Broomfield Police Department in a stolen car. The two are held pending extradition back to Yuma County.

This office strongly believes these two are related to the five auto thefts in Phillips County. Please be advised these two are only suspects at this time and have not been charged by the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office.

The Phillips County Sheriff’s Office is currently working on attaching them to the theft of a Ford pick-up stolen form Phillips County and discovered in Thornton. Although deputies are certain to have two in custody, the Sheriff’s Office still urges the public to be vigilant and protect personal property by removing the keys to your vehicles and locking the doors.
