Bulldog State track participants return home with several medals

SENIOR RYAN Tempel throws discus in his final outing as a Bulldog athlete while at the State Track Meet last week. He finished with a throw of 118 feet, six inches, good enough for a sixth place finish.

The Bulldog track team had an impressive showing at the Colorado State Track Meet held at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood last week.

The boys' and girls' four-by-100 meter relay teams both brought home the gold. Other Haxtun track athletes earned top placing medals and hit personal bests as well.

A complete list of results from 2021 State Track are as follows:

Girls

100-meter dash: Taylor Schram, fourth place, 13.57.

Four-by-100-meter relay: Team of Schram, Cassidy Goddard, Allie Thompson and Aliyah Engle, first place, 54.04.

Four-by-200-meter relay: Team of Engle, Ella Coffin, Goddard and Schram, third place, 1:56.60.

800-meter Sprint Medley relay: Team of Engle, Goddard, Schram and Thompson, second, 1:58.83.

Long jump: Thompson, second, 15 feet, seven inches.

Triple jump: Thompson, sixth, 32 feet, 10.5 inches.

MICHAEL GERK and David Avery exchange the baton in the pouring rain during the boys' four-by-400 relay at the Colorado State Track Meet on Saturday. The relay team placed fourth with a time of 3:54.48.

Discus: Goddard, fifth, 103 feet, six inches.

Boys

100-meter-dash: Kyle Fryrear, seventh, 11.83; Owen Knode, ninth, 11.93.

200-meter-dash: Fryrear, fifth, 23.98; Knode, sixth, 24.03.

Four-by-100-meter relay: Team of Michael Gerk, Owen Knode, Isaac Andersen and Fryrear, first, 46.20.

Four-by-200-meter relay: Team of Gerk, Owen, Andersen and Fryrear, third, 1:36.98.

Four-by-400-meter relay: Team of Gerk, David Avery, Andersen and Josh Wright, seventh, 3:54.48.

Four-by-800-meter relay: Team of Gerk, Osman Coss, Avery and Wright, ninth, 9:56.72.

Triple jump: Andersen, fifth, 39 feet, three inches.

Discus: Ryan Tempel, sixth, 118 feet, six inches.
