8-member Lady Wildcat track squad takes fourth overall at State Track Meet

A FLEMING LADY Wildcat relay team of Whitney Chintala and Kally Kirkwood, back, and Zoey Vandenbark and Lexi Schaefer, front, took their place at the top of the podium for the four-by-100-meter and four-by-200-meter relays last weekend at the State Track Meet at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood.

Every member of this year's Lady Wildcat track team qualified to compete at the State Track Meet this season. The eight-member squad made their presence known when they entered Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood last week. Despite postponements due to weather, the Lady Wildcats finished with fourth place overall after tallying 55 points with several relay teams and individuals placing among the top-10 in the State.

Results of the events the Lady Wildcats competed last weekend are as follows:

100-meter dash: Zoey Vandenbark, third place, 13.50.

SOPHOMORE MADI Serrato finished in eighth place in the pole vault competition at State after clearing seven feet, four inches.

200-meter dash: Kally Kirkwood, first, 26.96; Vandenbark, sixth, 27.82.

400-meter dash: Kirkwood, first, 59.24.

1,600-meter run: Madi Serrato, 12th, 6:26.34.

Four-by-100-meter relay: Team of Kirkwood, Vandenbark, Whitney Chintala and Lexi Schaefer, first, 52.53.

Four-by-200-meter relay: Team of Kirkwood, Vandenbark, Chintala and Schaefer, first, 1:51.45.

800-sprint medley relay: Team of Chintala, Laney Schliesser, Maddy Harms and Maddy Zink, ninth, 2:05.50.

Four-by-800-meter relay: Team of Schliesser, Zink, Harms and Serrato, 12th, 12:05.64.

Long jump: Schaefer, ninth, 13 feet, 9.25 inches.

Triple jump: Schaefer, 11th, 29 feet, 5.5 inches.

Pole vault: Serrato, eighth, seven feet, four inches.
