October 12, 2022
Interested in feeling better today and staying healthy for the future? In current times, once people reach age 65, they can expect to live another 19 years with approximately 66 percent of that time in good health. In addition, they can expect the greatest amount of free time in history, so it’s wise to be thinking about means to engage in ongoing and positive ways to make the most of longevity. Join the Aging Mastery Program — an opportunity to become informed, encouraged and empowered to make and maintain small, effective changes to live a healthier, happier more secure life and stay engaged as we age.
The Aging Mastery Program, developed by the National Council on Aging, is a health and wellness series for those aged 55 years and older. Class topics will explore navigating longer lives, medication management, physical activity, falls prevention, healthy eating and hydration, sleep, financial fitness, advanced planning, healthy relationships and community engagement.
The Aging Mastery Program will begin Wednesday, Oct. 19 with our Navigating longer lives and Medication Management chapters. Our Medication Management guest speaker will be Melissa Memorial Hospital Pharmacy Director, Amy Kleve. Kleve has a strong passion for helping people with pharmacy related questions and especially focusing on helping the older population maneuver the challenges of Medicare coverage. She currently resides in Holyoke with her husband and seven children.
Classes are being offered in three different formats; Zoom, in person or via Zoom recordings. Each participant will have the option to do what works best for them. Face-to-face locations will be in Burlington, Ft Morgan, Holyoke, Sterling and Wray or an opportunity to join virtually via Zoom every other Wednesday starting Oct. 19.
