FLEMING LADY Wildcat senior Kally Kirkwood goes up against three Weldon Valley Lady Warrior blockers in Fleming's homecoming match last Friday, Oct. 7.

The Fleming Lady Wildcats went 1-1 in last week's home-court action. They took a three-set sweep over Weldon Valley in a Friday evening homecoming match and fell to the then seventh-ranked Simla Lady Cubs on Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats entered last week's play in the number three slot of Colorado High School Activities Association's 1A rankings. They held a 12-2 record on the year when they met up with the Lady Warriors on Friday.

Weldon Valley came close within five and four points in Friday's opening two sets, but fell 25-20 and 25-21. Fleming dominated in set three, 25-9, to take the homecoming sweep and remain undefeated in their League, 6-0.

They returned to the court on Saturday night to face off with Simla's Lady Cubs. Simla entered with a similar record, 14-4 overall and 3-0 in their League, but sat four spots below the then third-ranked Lady Wildcats.

Simla came out solid in the first set and took a 25-19 win over the home team. Fleming bounced back for a second-set victory, 25-17, but fell in the third and fourth sets, 25-21 in both, for the match loss.

The loss to Simla drops the Lady Wildcats to number six in CHSAA's rankings. Simla replaced the Lady Wildcats in the number three slot. Merino and McClave remain in the top two spots, respectively.

Fleming was set to take on Prairie at home on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The local ladies swept the Lady Mustangs earlier in the season.

On Thursday, Oct. 13, the Fleming is scheduled to travel to the home of the 14-2 Sedgwick County Lady Cougars. Matches that day are set to start at 4 p.m.

On Tuesday, Oct. 18, Fleming is set to meet up with the Holyoke Lady Dragons in Holyoke. In the two team's previous outting, Fleming swept. Matches are set to start at 4 p.m. that day.
