December 14, 2022

With their most recent win over the Caliche Lady Buffaloes, the Fleming Lady Wildcats moved on to 3-0 on the season. The two squads held matching 2-0 records prior to last Friday’s outing. Fleming took wins over Haxtun and Belleview Christian in week one before traveling to the home of the Lady Buffaloes where they took their most recent win in the second week of the season to put them at 3-0 overall.

The Lady Wildcats took an early upperhand putting 10 points on the board in the first while giving up just four. They expanded that lead by another five points in the second quarter to go up 28-17 by halftime.

Scoring between the two teams evened out in the second half. Both squads added eight in the third and 11 in the second and score settled with Fleming up by 11, 47-36.

Senior Kally Kirkwood led the Lady Wildcats on the scoreboard with 13 points. She made eight points off two-point shots, three off one outside the arc and put two of four through the net from the free-throw line.

Junior MadiKay Serrato also hit double digits for the night with 11. She earned hers off three two-point buckets, a three-pointer and went two-for-two from the charity stripe.

Senior Maddy Harms led under the board in rebounds with nine. She brought down four offensive and five defensive boards. Kirkwood followed with seven. Hers split at two and five, respectively.

Kirkwood led in steals with five. Serrato and senior Lexi Schaefer followed with four.

Fleming is set to host a Winter Hoops Tournament this weekend. The Lady Wildcats are set to take the court against the Flagler Lady Panthers to open on Friday at 6 p.m.

The winner of that contest will advance to the championship on Saturday at 4 p.m. against the winner of a Gilpin County versus Arickaree contest. The loser of Friday’s Fleming versus Flager matchup will play against the loser of Gilpin County versus Arickaree at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
