On Monday, Jan. 30, Holyoke Schools hosted the 16th annual Honor Band. Haxtun students who participated are pictured above (l-r), Bryden Woodside, Gabriel Becerra Acosta, Michael Knox, Lillian Garrison and Anika Wright. Not pictured is Mollie Wernsman.

More than 140 students were selected from 14 area schools through an audition process and band director recommendations. Guest clinician for the 69 member high school band was Dave Williams from Manitou Springs High School. Risa Lamorie served as the guest clinician for the 74 member junior high band.

Students rehearsed throughout the day and presented a culminating concert to close out the day’s festivities. Area schools who were represented include Haxtun, Akron, Merino, Wiggins, Otis, Fleming, Julesburg, Fort Morgan, Sterling, Yuma, Wray, Peetz and Holyoke. Haxtun and Holyoke band students are under the direction of Pat Wiebers.
