Bulldogs end Merino Rams' undefeated season; clench top spot in Lower Platte League and 1A State baseball rankings

That call never came and Wolff remained on first. Haxtun hosted the Rams on Saturday, breaking the visiting team's undefeated streak and stealing their first place standing in State rankings.

Something snapped on Saturday when the Bulldogs hosted the Rams from Merino on the baseball diamond. Both teams entered game one of two on the day's schedule with undefeated records and holding the top two spots in the league as well as State rankings. That all changed when Haxtun took down Merino, 4-1, in game one, breaking the Rams winning streak. The win also moves the Bulldogs into the number one seed with just two games left on the regular season schedule and before post-season play begins.

While the weather last week reached up into the 80s most days, Saturday's forecast was cold...
