Kaitlyn Ernst

Fleming Schools opened the 2023-24 school year last week and when fourth grade students entered the classroom, they were welcomed by new teacher Kaitlyn Ernst. Here is a little information about Fleming's new fourth grade teacher:

Tell us a little about yourself: My name is Kaitlyn Ernst (formerly Anderson) and I am from Haxtun. I was born on a family farm, Anderson Wheat Farms, and attended Haxtun for all of my schooling before I moved to Colorado State University to get my Bachelor's Degree in Agricultural Business. I am currently going through the Alternative Teaching License program with BOCES to obtain my teaching license this year. I am married to Reid Ernst and we live on the farm with our two dogs and cat. In my free time I love running and reading books.

What is your favorite food, drink, and/or color? My favorite food is anything with pasta or rice in it. Wonderful House is my go-to around here! My favorite drink is coffee or flavored water and my favorite color is pink.

What is your favorite quote or book? My favorite quote, by Albert Einstein, says "Education is not the learning of facts, but the training of the mind to think." I have far too many favorite books to pick just one but my current favorites are the A Court of Thorns and Roses series.

What are you looking forward to next year? Next year, I am looking forward to learning how to be a teacher and developing relationships with each of my students. I was impacted greatly by the teachers I had growing up, so if I can be that for even one student, I will have accomplished what I hoped to.

Anything else you would like to share: I am so excited to be teaching this year! I was the Secretary at Fleming Schools last year and Fleming is truly the most amazing school to be a part of. The staff and administration is so supportive and I could not think of a better place to start this teaching journey! I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has cheered me on, checked on me and supported me in countless other ways!
