Freshman from the Haxtun FFA Chapter went to Northeastern Junior College on Thursday, Sept. 21 to participate in the Becoming Involved as a Greenhand Conference. The B.I.G. conference gets the greenhands, which is the first degree in FFA, an opportunity to see the benefits of being a member in FFA.

During the conference members learned about building their FFA "house" and how to make it welcoming. This taught the kids first impressions and the importance of making a good first impression. They also talked about their FFA tool box teaching them about their body language, how to know your environment, your appearance and how others view you and your language. Lastly the freshmen competed in games to get to know each other.

Brock Miller and Braden Plumb also went to NJC to interview for District Officer positions. Brock was selected as District President and Braden, District Sentinel. They were interviewed by eight student representatives from different schools in the district. Megan Walker also went along to be a part of the nominating committee.
