Nov. 23, 1938

Miss Ruth Price and Veylerd Baker, Haxtun young people, were married Sunday afternoon at two o'clock at the home of the bride. The ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. R.W. Drummond of the Methodist Church, with members of the families in attendance. The bride is the daughter of Ray Price, and is a young woman of pleasing personality. She was reared in the Haxtun community and was graduated from the Haxtun High School in 1937. Mr. Baker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. L.L. Baker. He is a graduate of the high school here, and is a young man of likable qualities. Since his graduation, he has been engaged in business with his father and brother.

Members of the Haxtun football squad were guests at dinner last Thursday given by the high school pep club. Speeches were given by Stuart Exstrom, Bill Gale, Curtis Starkebaum, Everett McConnell, Jean Beckman, Earl Critchlow, Arden Sack, Quintin Bullock, Bus Wood, Clarence Rhodes, C.M. Bertagnolli, Reinder DeBuhr, Byron Bailey, Howard Hulquist, Harold Ruch, Bill Beckman and Junior Meakins.

Hospital news: The hospital wishes to thank Gerald Hurst for the crutches he donated.

Cpl. Duane J. Lousberg, 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aloys J. Lousberg of Fleming, is now stationed near Frankfurt, Germany, in a historical old castle that has housed foot soldiers since the 14th century.

Kenneth W. Mooney is serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier, USS Yorktown.

Fleming News - Mr. and Mrs. Harold Brecht of Crook are the parents of a daughter, Lynell Sue, born Wednesday, Nov. 18.

Clarkville News - Mr. and Mrs. Harry Salvador and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Reynolds Sr. Clyde Reynolds Jr. was here for a short time to hunt pheasants.

Nov. 23, 1978

Haxtun football coaches for the 1978 season were Keith Lick, assistant, coach, and John Starkebaum, head coach. Three football players were named to the Lower Platte Athletic Association all-conference football team: senior Norm Tanner, junior Scott Hinde and George Wall. Honorable mention: Gary Carper, Jay Haynes, Mark Ault and Brad Lightsey.

Tony Wernsman was named November artist of the month at Haxtun High School. Jackie Wernsman was named December artist of the month.

Nov. 24, 1993

Kenneth and Patricia Fisher of Haxtun announce the engagement of their daughter, Julie Michelle, to Jeffrey Keith Angleton, Haxtun, son of Terry Angleton, Rosiclare, Ill., and Janet Blaire, Citrus Heights, Calif.

Hello world: Izaak Morgan Brown to Russ and Jennie Brown, Holyoke, Nov. 14, 1993; Kody Michael Anderson to Mike and Kendra Anderson, Akron, Nov. 15, 1993.

Melissa Gregory has been selected artist of the month for November at Haxtun High School.

Named all-conference for Haxtun are seniors Alan Eckman and Mike McClain. Honorable mention: Mike Davis, Brian Starkebaum and Nathan Prottsman.

Artists of the month at Fleming: Molly Felzien and Terry Vigil.

Haxtun FHA member Christy Garcia and Busy Hands Preschool student Brittany Rahe modeled clothes during a fashion show given last week at the Haxtun School.

Haxtun kindergartners share kitchen expertise for Thanksgiving: Mashed potatoes – by Chase Goddard, Get out a bowl and put a cup of milk in it. Add some pepper and salt. Add gravy. Put the potatoes in the bowl. Mix it up and then you eat them! Turkey - by Jaxsen and Schram, First you put stuffing in the turkey and then you put it in the oven at 40 degrees for two minutes.
