SC/F boys finish in 10th in Nebraska; girls take 4th place in Kansas

The Sedgwick County/Fleming wrestlers competed in the MidWest Duals last week at Kearney, Neb. The team finished in 10th place out of 15 teams after dualing against Millard South, Norton Community, Kearney Catholic and Minden. Results are as follows:

Millard South defeated SC/F, 72-6.

120-pound Kaiden Schelling lost to Brody Herschlag by fall.

126-pound Coleman Firme lost to Isaac Ekdahl by fall.

132-pound Scotty Engle defeated Brady Danze by fall in 5:11.

150-pound Zach Statz lost to Logan Glynn by fall.

175-pound Kale Volkman lost to Tanner Fuller by fall.

190-pound Ryan Davis lost to Austin Summers by fall.

Norton Community defeated SC/F, 62-18.

Volkman lost by fall to Cope Railsback.

At 215 pounds, Davis lost by fall to Colton Stover.

SC/F defeated Kearney Catholic, 43-31.

Firme lost by fall to Chaz Erickson.

Engle lost to Colton Kelley by fall.

138-pound Gage Helgoth lost by major decision to Clay Rasmussen, 13-3.

At 157 pounds, Statz defeated Robert Sogar by fall in 5:46.

In the 215-pound division, Javier Copley defeated Ryan Davis by fall.

Schelling lost to Dominic Molina, 6-2.

Minden defeated SC/F, 58-18.

Engle lost by fall to Koltdyn Heath.

Helgoth defeated Brody Sexton, 9-3.

Statz lost to Kanin Heath by fall in the 157-pound class.

Volkman lost to Cael Smith by fall.

In the 215-pound class, Davis defeated Sage Saunders by fall in 1:32.

Schelling defeated Harrison Reed, 7-4.

Firme lost to Cade Harsin by fall.

On Jan. 20 the Lady SC/F wrestlers traveled to Saint Frances, Kan., to compete in the Buffalo Invitational. The ladies finished in fourth place out of 13 teams.

Annie Wilson took third place at 120 pounds. She won by fall over Keely Millan of Norton in 0:31; lost to Maggie Holle of Atwood-Rawlins Co.; and won by fall over Allyson Hale of Norton in 1:11. In the third place match, Wilson won by fall over Chloe Willis of Goodland in 0:45.

130-pound Autumn Volkman lost to Amanda Jaeger of Colby by fall and lost to Maci Workman of St. Francis by fall.

Olivia Stone placed fourth at 155 pounds. She lost to Jessi Wait of Norton by fall. She won the consolation semifinal match by fall over Layla Puga of Norton in 1:50. In the third place match, Stone lost by fall to Ashlyn Franz of Goodland.

The ladies’ team is set to compete in the Chatfield Girls’ War Horse Invitational in Littleton on Jan. 27.
