Crews fight fire southeast of Haxtun on Sunday afternoon

LOCAL and state fire crews battled a field fire southeast of Haxtun near County Road 7 on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 25. The Haxtun Volunteer Fire Department was assisted by the Wages Volunteer Fire Department and the Colorado State Wildland team to gain control and extinguish the blaze.
Red Flag warnings blanketed much of the State of Colorado throughout the weekend and the first part of the week, including Phillips and surrounding counties due to dry weather conditions and high winds.
