Work was started this week on the new super-service station that will be built by the Haxtun Cooperative Oil Co. The new building will be located opposite the Shirley Hotel, on lots purchased some time ago by the company.

April 7, 1954

Hospital news: Roger Hill, small son of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Hill, was a medical patient Thursday. He returned home Friday.

Kenneth Melburg and Dean Davis were uninjured in a one-car automobile accident shortly after midnight Sunday, four miles north and one-fourth west on the correction line. The two boys were enroute to Haxtun, and failed to make the "dead end" turn at that point. The car, a 1947 Kaiser, was a complete loss. The boys walked to the Fred Heaston place, four miles north of town, to report the accident.

April 5, 1979

Pictured: Getting some last-minute rehearsals in, the Haxtun senior class plans for its class play, "Desperate Ambrose," to be presented Friday night at the new gym.

Miss Rosetta Fetzer and Mr. Darrell Phillips were united in marriage Feb. 3 at the Haxtun United Methodist Church in Haxtun by the Rev. Bill Moore.

Births: Carla Jo Vandenbark to Mr. and Mrs. James Vandenbark, Sterling, March 28, 1979; Cara Marie Munday to Mr. and Mrs. Roger Munday, Haxtun, March 30, 1979.

Tim Carper graduated from Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie, Wyo., March 30. He completed the course prescribed for diesel technician.

Jill Sauder, pictured, seems to be making a major decision about which bunny to choose. Sauder found one of the golden eggs at Saturday's Easter Egg Hunt in Haxtun. Behind Sauder, waiting her turn to pick a prize is Katelyn Starkebaum.

Obituaries: Samuel Ray Goddard, 101, April 2, 1994, Heritage Living Center; Lauren Frederick Heaston, 87, March 31, 1994, Haxtun Hospital.

Hospital news: Dismissals, Catherine Lanckriet and baby boy Christopher; Shawna Cummings and baby girl Tiffany.

One new and two returning town trustees took their oath of office on Monday night: Darrell Phillips, Lester Weers and Dave Schaefer are pictured, with Mayor Gay McDaniel administering the oath.

First birthday: Leighton Robert Fetzer, son of Tim and Laurie Fetzer, March 17, 1994.

Keith and Betty Lick, long-time Haxtun residents, will lead the 93rd annual Corn Festival parade on Sept. 27 as a grand marshals. The Corn Festival committee, made up of Haxtun Chamber of Commerce members, selected the Licks for the honor during a meeting last week. This year's theme, chosen by fifth grade student Tanley Andersen, is "We've got a good thing growing."

Four generations of Harms fellows gathered for the baptism of the youngest Harms, Blake, on Jan. 19. Pictured are great-grandfather, Virgil Harms, father Jeffrery Harms holding his son Blake, and grandfather, Duane Harms.
