Shining Stars and food service awards recognized for 2019

April 15, 2020

The Northeast Colorado Health Department is recognizing community members and facilities across northeast Colorado for their dedication to public health and excellence in food safety with our annual Public Health Awards. This year, because of social distancing, NCHD will award these individuals and organizations at a distance by foregoing the annual awards ceremony and mailing their awards.

“Although we can’t have an awards reception this year, these recipients are no less honored by our organization,” says Trish McClain, NCHD Executive Director. “Their commitment and dedication to public health shows that their efforts go way beyond what our organization can achieve alone.”

In Phillips County, Kim Keil, Registered Occupational Therapist, was nominated by Sherri Yahn, Christine Covelli and Kandi Jamison for her love and dedication to children with special needs.

“Kim has been a dedicated asset to our HCP program for over 25 years,” said Yahn. “She has touched hundreds of families across northeast Colorado,” Covelli added. “Kim helps with referrals and connects families to services in their community,” Jamison said.

In Phillips County, NCHD recognizes The Daily Grind and Das Grebble Haus by presenting to them the Excellence in Food Safety Award. Food safety awards go to establishments in our six-county health district that maintain the highest standards of food safety in northeast Colorado.

NCHD works with many individuals and organizations that promote the health and wellbeing of our communities and environments across northeast Colorado. Public health would not be possible without the coordinated efforts of individuals, public and private organizations and communities working together to promote and protect health and inspire prevention.
