On March 29-31 Haxtun FCCLA students attended the Northeastern Plains District Career and Leadership Conference. This conference was led by district officers and advisers from Haxtun, Holyoke, Yuma, Akron, Merino, Sterling and Wray. The District chose to put on it's own conference due to too many conflicts with Easter weekend and State FBLA being at the same time.

FCCLA members pictured with speaker Adam Carriker at Northeastern Junior College are front row (l-r), Tessa Gales, Maggie Kilgour, Aly Lock, Julia Freeman and Evelyn Mendoza; back row (l-r), Olivia Stone, Mikayli Benson, Zoe Kurtzer, Emma Henry, Adam Carriker, Kirsta Dishman, Annie Guitierrez, Gianna Swan and Cassidy Goodwin.

Highlights of the conference included keynote Adam Carriker, former Nebraska Husker and eight years in the NFL playing for the Redskins and Rams, appearances on Fox News, and father of six. He discussed adversity and how to persevere to achieve goals. Students also enjoyed a multimedia slideshow brought to them from Los Angeles. It's an inspirational message that emphasizes making life count and making good choices.

Gianna Swan 22-23 district officer played a large part in the conference opening and closing sessions. District officers then handed down their positions to the 2023-24 newly elected officers in a formal officer installation ceremony.

Students also competed in STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) Events. Career Investigation: Emma Henry, gold, Mikayli Benson, silver, Olivia Stone, bronze, Zoe Kurtzer, silver, Josie Freeman, silver, Cassidy Goodwin, silver, Julia Freeman, silver, Gianna Swan, silver, and Kirsta Dishman, bronze; Leadership: Aly Lock, bronze; Focus on Children: Maggie Kilgour and Evelyn Mendoza, silver.
