A business deal was completed at Haxtun this week in which the dental practice of Dr. V.R. Butler was sold to Dr. C.W. Buck of Otis.
Philorado News - Mr. and Mrs. G.A. Starkebaum and Ethelyn and Mrs. and Mrs. Ernest Starkebaum and Clark were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Biesemeier and family.
Good Hope News - We understand a family from Eckley has rented the Barta place and will move there sometime this spring.
Dailey News - Mary Lee Cassell has been spending the week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Soliday.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter McClain of Crook are the parents of a baby daughter born Saturday (March 15, 1952). She was named Betty Jo.
Miss Marjory Mooney, a member of the senior class of the Haxtun High School, entered a letter-writing contest and has received an honorable award for the letter.
Fairfield News - Mrs. Arvid Anderson and infant son were released from the Holyoke hospital Saturday. They are staying with her father A.A. Trego, and wife in Holyoke.
Joy Monteith, Arnold Vonderlage, Donald Faules, Richard Yorke and Wayne Scott, accompanied by the Haxtun bandleader, William Funke, attended the honor band meeting in Greeley Friday and Saturday.
Paoli News - Miss JoAnn Biesemeier is visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Biesemeier. She is a student at Western State College at Gunnison.
Dailey News - Oliver Boeve, Kenneth Gordon, Ralph Peterson, LeRoy Miller and Rev. V.J. Lamm repaired the ceiling and roof of the church Monday morning.

Randy Ricker, Troy Anderson and Rodney Anderson were guests of the Nolin boys at their 4-H skating party in Sterling Monday evening.
Julia and Sue Bauer were Monday evening callers in the Don Luelf home. The evening was enjoyed playing pitch.
The Herman Wolffs attended the wedding of their grandson, Deris Wolff, son of Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Wolff of Sidney, Neb., Saturday afternoon. Also attending from Haxtun were Mr. and Mrs. Delbert Wolff and Debbie, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Wolff, and John Fetzer.
Fleming News - School was dismissed early Wednesday because of the severe storm. There was no school on Thursday. Town kids were out with their snow shovels, scooping sidewalks and helping folks.

The county commissioner race continues to heat up this week as two more candidates announced intentions to seek party nomination. With Ron Miles and John Sullivan joining the race, the total reached nine.
Haxtun's Lady Bulldogs brought home fifth place and the sportsmanship award from state basketball action last week. The team: Dana Salvador, Paige Fuesz, Casey Sumpter, Jennifer Waite, Amanda Seger, Jamie Brundige, Beth Wernsman, Catina Klinzmann, Tammy Lewis, Becky Braun, Staci Starkebaum and Crisa McClain. Head coach is Rich Sumpter. Assistant coach is Michele Bivins. Andrea Lock is manager for the team.

Black and gray smoke rising southeast of Haxtun could be seen for miles on Sunday afternoon as a considerably large grass fire kept local fire departments busy battling blazes into the night. According to Haxtun Fire Chief Steve Statz, the fire started as a controlled burn south of Haxtun near county roads 18 and 9.
Haxtun Hospital District is pleased to announce that Colleen Jedlicka, Registered Nurse, will join us as Chief Clinical Officer as of March 26.
