Feb. 16, 1938

E.E. Cronquist and W.L. Garretson will hold a farm sale on Saturday of this week at the farm one-half mile north of Haxtun. The list is headed by 24 head of milk cows.

Forty head of livestock, farm machinery and equipment will be sold at an auction Monday by Henry Dillehay and Clarence Sullivan at the farm one-half mile west of Paoli on the highway. The list includes 12 head of horses.

Miss Helen Trego, and Arvid O. Anderson were the principals in a pretty wedding, which took place Tuesday noon at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Trego, north of Holyoke.

Feb. 18, 1953

Fleming news – Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Sehnert announce the birth of a son, Bernard Eldon, born Feb. 8 in Rosenberg, Texas. Mr. Sehnert what is the principal of the school here several years ago.

Dailey News – Mr. and Mrs., Harold Yost and family, Mr. and Mrs. Frank, Daley, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pauling of Sterling, and Ben Lyman called in the Howard Lindgren home on Friday.

Fairfield News – Mr. and Mrs. William Ruch and daughter entertained at a dinner Sunday honoring the birthdays anniversaries of two of their guests. Present were Mr. and Mrs. Gene Peterson, and Roscoe, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Garretson, and daughter Debra of Sterling, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Peterson and children, and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Garretson.

Feb. 16, 1978

Two fires to businesses in the Holyoke area last week produced over $100,000 in damages and evoked an investigation by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. A fire on Feb. 7 gutted DonMar's located a mile south of Holyoke. The second was Feb. 8 for a fire at the location formally occupied by Ralph's Bar in downtown Holyoke, at the intersection of Interocean and Highway 6.

Feb. 17, 1993

A storm that went through the Haxtun area last Wednesday dumped six inches of snow, closing area schools for the afternoon. Before road crews could clear the streets, a second storm hit on Monday, dumping five more inches on the area.

Knowledge bowl contestants from Fleming are Candi Mekelburg, Adriana Bricknell, Amber Mekelburg, Adam Schmidt, Randy Kirkwood, Frank Lousberg and Jeremy Vandenbark. The teams were sponsored by Iris Mekelburg.

Jennifer Waite, a senior at Haxtun High School, has been awarded a President's Scholarship to attend Doane College in Crete, Neb. It is valued at $4,000 over four years. She is the daughter of Gary and Maureen Waite of Haxtun.

Jon Shouta, Sandra Lambert, Kelli Lightsey, Catherine Brasby and Justin McDaniel made the president's honor roll for the fall semester at Northeastern Junior College.

Feb. 20, 2013

Chest champ: Grant Statz recently took first place in the Denver Scholastic Chess Tournament in the kindergarten and first grade unrated division. He is a kindergartener at Haxtun Schools and is the son of Steve and Lila Statz, Haxtun.

Obituary: Longtime resident, Jeanne Stiner, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 at the Haxtun Extended Care Unit where she resided for the past 11 months. She was 91 years old and lived a full and active life.

The hometown team won the battle of the Lady Bulldogs Friday night as Haxtun cruised to a 55-37 victory over Otis in the last home game of the regular season.

It wasn't an easy feat, but the Haxtun Bulldogs managed a second half comeback to take down the Holyoke Dragons at home on Valentine's Day. The victory over the Dragons is the second this season, which gives the Bulldogs one more District win before the end of this season.
