Bullard breaks 40-year-old high jump record at Haxtun Relays

HAXTUN'S JAYLEIGH Bullard soars over the high jump bar at Haxtun Relays on Friday. Bullard broke the school record with a jump of five feet, two inches while taking first place in the event.

The second annual Haxtun Relays at Holyoke High School took place Friday afternoon, April 28. Haxtun began hosting the relays on Holyoke's qualifying all-weather track last year under the direction of Head Coach Jared Anderson.

Sophomore Jayleigh Bullard broke the Haxtun High School record in the high jump at the Haxtun Relays. Bullard jumped five feet, two inches taking first place in the event. That jump broke the record of five feet set by Kelly Carper in 1983.

Haxtun tracksters top-10 results from Haxtun Relays are as follows:

Girls

100-meter-dash: Kayti Williams, ninth, 13.98.

400-meter-dash: Lilly Lemesany, fifth, 1:13.59; Mikayli Benson, seventh, 1:18.97.

100-meter hurdles: Williams, second, 18.33; Halli Philp, eighth, 20.84; Bobbi Starkebaum, ninth, 22.56.

300-meter hurdles: Heily Avery, fourth, 55.88; Bullard, sixth, 1:00.52; Emily Anderson, eighth, 1:02.58.

Four-by-100-meter relay team: fourth, 57.02.

Four-by-200-meter relay team: third, 2:01.39.

Sprint Medley relay team: fourth, 2:20.33.

Four-by-400-meter relay team: fourth, 4:55.10.

High jump: Bullard, first, five feet, two inches; Starkebaum, four feet, five inches; Heily Avery and Josie Freeman, tie for ninth, four feet, three inches.

Long jump: Hadley Feik, 10th, 11 feet, 7.5 inches.

Triple jump: Starkebaum, fifth, 29 feet, 4.5 inches; Lemesany, ninth, 26 feet, 3.25 inches.

Discus: Cassidy Goddard, first, 125 feet, three inches; Zoe Kurtzer, fourth, 96 feet, eight inches; Reagan Jones, 10th, 83 feet, five inches.

Shot put: Goddard, fourth, 32 feet, 5.5 inches; Jones, 10th, 25 feet, four inches.

The Lady Bulldogs earned a total of 80 points for fourth place.

Boys

100-meter-dash: Kyle Fryrear, first, 11.44; Josh Wright, third, 11.46; Ryland Wolff, fourth, 11.65; Grant Statz, eighth, 12.16.

200-meter-dash: Statz, third, 24.73.

400-meter-dash: Chase Goddard, eighth, 59.91.

800-meter run: Mason Bornhoft, seventh, 2:42.23; Chris Durbin, ninth, 2:54.20; Seth Seger, 10th, 2:54.90.

1,600-meter run: Corbin Andersen, second, 5:20.07; Bornhoft, fifth, 5:54.93; Chris Durbin, 10th, 6:50.48.

3,200-meter run: Andersen, second, 12:16.34.

Four-by-400-meter relay team: third, 3:36.35.

High jump: Michael Gerk, sixth, five feet, three inches.

Long jump: Wolff, first, 19 feet, three inches; Statz, fifth, 18 feet, 1.5 inches; Gerk, ninth, 16 feet, 9.5 inches.

Triple jump: Wright, first, 39 feet, 9.5 inches; Statz, sixth, 35 feet, 10 inches.

Discus: Maclin Tempel, third, 124 feet, eight inches; Jake Tori, 10th, 95 feet, eight inches.

Shot put: Tori, second, 38 feet, 7.25 inches; Tempel, eighth, 35 feet, 2.75 inches.

Haxtun finished in third place with 117.5 points.
