National Renewable Solutions, a Minnesota based renewable energy developer, has recently surpassed a critical mass of acreage under lease for land planned to site two separate wind projects in Northeast Colorado - Overland Pass East, located between Julesburg and Holyoke, and Overland Pass West, located south of Haxtun.

Walt Page, NRS employee and landowner in Overland Pass West, has been hard at work with others from the NRS team to reach this milestone:

"It's been great to have had such a positive response to signing up with these projects," Page said. "And as we are looking ahead, we want to get the word out, for those of us with land in the project footprint, this is our chance, don't wait."

To date, NRS has signed leases with landowners representing over 70,000 acres across the two projects in Sedgwick, Phillips and Logan counties to leases, NRS also offers landowners in the footprint in other ways to participate, such as specific easements and/or good neighbor agreements.

When complete, these wind projects will create benefits beyond direct payments to landowners. Gary Price, local Julesburg area business owner and project partner, is excited for the positive impact he believes the project will have on the Sedgwick County economy.

"It will bring revenue into the local tax coffers, bring good jobs to local residents and bring customers to our local area businesses," Price said.

Over the lifespan of the wind project (30+ years), millions of tax dollars will flow from the project company to county coffers, supporting local schools and emergency services. As for job creation, NRS expects the two projects to create hundreds of short-term construction jobs and 12 to 25 long term full-time jobs during operations. These projects will produce clean, cheap power for approximately 200,000 average United States homes a year.
