Dec. 28, 1938

A novel dance attraction is scheduled for this weekend in Haxtun when a sunrise dance will be held Sunday night beginning at 12 midnight. The dance will feature the music of Chuck Kellow and his Wonder Band of Greeley. It is being arranged by the town basketball club to help purchase new uniforms for the team.

Miss Esther M. Trusty of Merino became the bride of Lloyd Atkins of Haxtun last Saturday, Dec. 24. The wedding took place at the Methodist parsonage at Hillrose and was performed by the rev. I.O. Tweedy.

Dailey News - Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fuesz and family and Mr. and Mrs. Will Fuesz and Marvin of Haxtun were Christmas dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Fuesz.

Christmas dinner guests at the John T. Anderson home were Mr. and Mrs. C.C. McCune, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson, Ernest Mattson and family, C.W. Gale and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arvid Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson and baby, Mrs. Charlotte Noreen and Emil Bentson and son.

Hospital news: A baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jesse L. Kinzie of Fleming Christmas Eve. She was named Jessica.

Ricky Lee Daley was honored with a birthday supper Sunday evening in observance of his third birthday anniversary. His aunt, Mrs. Howard Lindgren of Dailey, brought his birthday cake. Those helping him celebrate the occasion where his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Daley and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Wilcox, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lindgren, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frankie Daley.

Dec. 28, 1978

Clyde Richardson has been appointed area agronomist for the Golden Plains Area Office of the Colorado State University extension service, effective Jan.1, 1979. He is currently 4-H and youth agent in Cheyenne Wells and will be located at Wray.

Vonda Wiebers, a senior at Fleming High School, is the winner of the annual Voice of Democracy speech contest sponsored by the Richard Becker Post 7153 of the Fleming Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Birth: Mr. and Mrs. Don Lock, Krystal Marie, Dec. 21, 1978.

Haxtun varsity boys' basketball team: Art Lick, Mitch Miller, Bryan Anderson, Gary Carper, Lennie Fisbeck, Jim Orth, Troy Whitmore, John Seiner, Brett Garretson, Darry Stansbury and Scott Meakins.

Kelly Carwin of Fleming placed second in the state poster contest sponsored by the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Colorado Association of Soil Conservation Districts. Over 80 entries from 45 districts were in the contest.

Dec. 29, 1993

A one-vehicle rollover accident early Monday morning in Sedgwick County took the life of 19-year-old Shane Kier of rural Haxtun.

Joe Jeffers was honored on his birthday at a dinner at the home of his parents, Brent and Patty Jeffers, in Sidney. Other guests: Oliver and Louise Firkins, Fort Collins; Kent and Robin Geu; Clyde Jeffers; Lloyd and Lowell Skold; Gladys Bjorklun; Darwin and Ellie Jeffers and Brenda and Sharon.

Jody Heermann and son John were spotlighted Christmas morning on the nationally televised Walt Disney World Very Merry Christmas Parade. They were selected during their recent trip to Disney World.
