A Monday night, Dec. 5 meeting of the Haxtun Health Board of Directors drew a total of two members present in person. Valorous and noble, our dogs crested the tops of the largest snowdrifts in their quest for adventure. Peak after peak, formed of biting wind and snow, brought them unrelenting joy. Their relatively lighter frames made it a breeze for them to move in and out and over the top of the wind-hardened surface. The Lady Bulldogs notched their first win of the season this week as they took down county rival Holyoke in round two of play in the 2022 Northeastern Junior College Holiday Basketball Tournament. A mid-December blizzard on the plains of northeastern Colorado caused havoc in scheduling for organizers of the 2022 Holiday Tournament at Northeastern Junior College last week. Diane Bell passed away on Friday, Dec. 9, 2022 at her home in Julesburg at the age of 68. Diane was born on Sept. 19, 1954 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Eldon and Princetta (Blakely) Reutter. She graduated from Haxtun High School with the Class of 1973. After graduating high school, Diane earned her Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in Music from the University of Northern Colorado.
